In Deep Water
Let me start by saying I don't reccomend doing this, and I don't
know why people set trotlines like this but they do. If your in a situation
that you want to fish deep water with nothing to tie toe, jug
fishing with juglines is much easier and a lot more effective, and a
lot safer than fishing a trotline set like this. I am not going to go into
much detail on this because it is not the most effective way and it is not
for the novice catfish angler.
The basic principle of setting a trotline like this in deep water
for catfish is you set two weights, with lines tied coming up from them
to your trotline floats, you then determine how far up from the bottom you
want to set your trotline and tie your line to the float lines at that depth.
Then you have to bait your trotline with the catfish bait soap and when
you are done baiting your trotline pull on one of the weights using the
boat until the line is good and right and then slowly let your trotline
weight down to the bottom.
