Our bait soap bar will make anywhere from 75 -200 or even more pieces of bait depending on how big a chunk you have to use(it depends on the size of the hook). Bait in the bar form stays fresh longer than bait stored in chunk form, that's why we let you cut it yourself!

Our catfish bait soap has a consistency that won't cause it to flake apart or crumble when you put a hook in it at your favorite catfish fishing hole. Our catfish bait stays on the hook very well, making it an ideal jugline and trotline bait.

Setting a Trotline - Fishing With Trotlines

Setting a Trotline from Shallow Water To Deep Water

Trotline

Fishing with trotlines as previously mentioned is an easy and effective way of fishing for catfish. Setting a trotline from shallow water to deep water is one of the common ways to set a trotline. Setting a trotline from shallow water to deep water is most often done in creek channels, rivers or in lakes with an area near a steep dropoff. To set your trotline in an area like this, you simply to your trotline to the shallow side first, tieing off to a tree or stump or such on the shallow water side.Begin feeding your trotline out towards the area your trotline will end and deploy a weight about 1/2 way out, you will want to use at least several pounds of weight in this area of your trotline. Continue setting your trotline past the weight and when you get to the end you will want to add another weight. I suggest this weight be very heavy, because this is what will hold the end of your trotline in place. When you are at the end of your trotline, tie some twine to your end weight and then knot the twine to the end of the trotline at the depth you want your trotline to set from the bottom of the lake. When you get the weight line and trotline end tied up, continue to feed twine out until you have a length of twine that is the same as the water depth, and then tie on your float. You should make sure your trotline is pulled tight. Go back to the beginning of the trotline and cut your catfish bait soap into chunks and begin baiting your trotline, you will need to bait your trotline and keep it pulled tight at the same time, when you have finished baiting your line with the catfish bait soap then you should keep pulling tension on the trotline away from where you have tied on the shallow side using the line that your float is attached to. Once the trotline is good and right you should slowly let the weight down into place.

This is one of the more difficult methods of fishing with trotlines. I do not reccomend this method of fishing with trotlines if you are not experienced. Make sure you check your local laws in regards to fishing with trotlines. Most states have laws pertaining to fishing with trotlines.
